HR TRENDS

Remote work

Flexible work became essential as a result of the COVID-19 epidemic, even though many firms had already started to transition to more remote work in recent years. Companies and employees have had to adapt to the rise of remote work, yet many people value the flexibility and absence of commute that remote work offers. The disadvantages of remote work, however, include presenteeism, decreased team cohesiveness and collaboration, and technological shortcomings. In the future, as more companies adopt remote work following the epidemic, HR departments that have relied on in-person hiring and on boarding will need to find solutions to operate efficiently.

Make a stronger effort to ensure that staff feel connected, even if it's only online. Consider bringing virtual versions of events that you would normally have. Say you had happy hour at work every other Thursday. Use Zoom for the pleasant hours right now. Additionally, help your staff succeed by allocating a money for a work-from-home office arrangement. Here at our business, we provide a $500 reimbursement to employees for the tools they require, as well as a $75 weekly reimbursement for meals, to assist them have a pleasant "work from home" setting.

 Diversity and inclusion

Diversity and inclusion policies have long been a hot topic in HR circles, and in recent years, the debate has intensified. Forward-thinking enterprises will need to give priority to attracting and keeping workers from a variety of backgrounds since employees are becoming more and more interested in working for companies that incorporate diversity and inclusion into their normal operating procedures. According to studies, having a diverse and inclusive culture improves an organization's revenue, innovation, and productivity; therefore, the time invested in implementing these principles is time well spent.

Even diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) as a field is evolving. Fast Company claims that DEI people are now more frequently seen in incorporated teams. Additionally, growth is more important than achieving perfection. Set DEI objectives, gather data as early as possible, and monitor development as you go.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                  (Martinez, 2022)

Mental health

The topic around mental health has taken center stage as employees cope with greater stress than ever before, including navigating a global health crisis, balancing caring with work, and navigating a more virtual work environment. In fact, 40% of American adults have admitted to having mental health issues since the pandemic started, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Employers must therefore pledge to provide workers with the mental health resources they require, including access to affordable care and management's knowledge and sensitivity.

Establish a check-in culture and an environment where managers exhibit and role-model healthy conduct. Additionally, your organization can provide managers and staff with training on mental health. You might find it beneficial to review your policies and processes. Are you fostering a flexible workplace where employees can take time off if necessary, to receive mental health care? Find a balance between working hard and overworking your staff by taking a close look at your business hours and paid time off  regulations.

                                                                     (Better, 2022)

Overall wellness

People want their employers to be concerned about their total physical wellness, just as the emphasis on mental health in the workplace is growing. Employers can develop wellness initiatives to promote workers' physical well-being, which has a beneficial effect on their engagement and job satisfaction. When seeking new candidates, recruiters can highlight their commitment to employee wellness as a selling factor. For instance, our friends at Gusto wanted to offer students ways to reduce stress and weariness. Setting Daily Mindful Intentions, finding a Mindful Balance in Work and Life, and Staying Connected Mindfully were the journeys that participants were taken on in "Mindfulness in a Remote World," the course they developed. Future candidates had a great opportunity to learn about Gusto's culture and enhance their employer branding and engagement through this.

Establishing an employee support program is yet another strategy to promote the general well being of your staff (EAP). An Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is a voluntary, workplace-based program that provides free and confidential assessments, short-term counselling, referrals, and follow-up services to employees who are experiencing personal or work-related problems, according to the Office of Personnel Management. Having a resource that staff members can use can be really beneficial. Remember to mainstream mental health and wellness, foster an inclusive environment, and provide a forum for your staff to bring up and debate this subject.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                              (Sara, 2022)

Speaking on social issues

Employees want to work for organizations that care about the social issues that are significant to them and want those organizations to publicly support those causes. Prospective employees will anticipate that corporations will participate in the conversation as issues of racial injustice, economic inequity, and gender inequality take center stage in the public discourse.
