PROVIDING JOB SATISFACTION THROUGH HEALTH AND SAFETY MANAGEMENT

What is health and safety management?

Human resource management is crucial in promoting workplace health and safety because they are in charge of the people, culture, and related policies and procedures.

Supervisors and managers realize that it is their responsibility to ensure that the workplace is free from known dangers that are causing or are likely to cause death or serious physical harm. HR management has this responsibility.

Steps to improve health and safety of employees

When it comes to ensuring that every employee is fit and safe while working, the HR department is important. Knowing this, the department should concentrate on developing and enforcing the organization's health and safety standards utilizing the resources available to it.

1. Make and build communication paths that are open.

Making sure that your lines of communication with the workforce are open is a crucial HR communications strategy and practice. This not only ensures that you have the trust of your workers but also that they won't be afraid to voice their concerns about anything they believe to be interfering with the organization's goals for occupational safety and health.

It is essential to hire and train HR workers that will not only encourage engagement with other departments but also make communication accessible in order to avoid employees from being afraid to communicate with the HR department. One way to accomplish this is by having one-on-one meetings with employees to check in on them. While some workers might be hesitant to discuss their worries and concerns with their bosses, they might be more open with HR staff members. Additionally, by interacting with employees by email or memos and informing them about health and safety risks like communicable diseases and weather advisories, you may maintain open lines of contact with your staff.

2. Implement stringent safety policies.

A safe working environment is the ideal. The ideal, though, is not always attainable. By preventing employees who are not authorized to work in specific dangerous zones from entering them, HR can promote safety. This can be accomplished by ensuring that safety regulations are communicated to the employees via a successful HR communications plan. Label any environments that you think harmful in order to raise even more awareness. Display warning signs or requirements for employees to enter dangerous locations.

3.  Provide health and safety training.

Giving employees health and safety training is one of the best methods to guarantee their well-being and safety at work. Along with first aid instruction, this training covers evacuation and emergency protocols. Make sure first aid supplies are easily accessible in each work zone so that minor injuries may be treated right away. Hold emergency and fire exercises as well so that staff members are prepared for disasters and unforeseen hazards. Make sure to additionally convey to staff that they should take any necessary sick time without worrying about being disciplined.

4.  Work with facility management to coordinate.

Coordination with site managers, who are in a better position to align the company's occupational safety and health goals and to protect the employees, is another crucial HR communications approach you should put into place. Facilities managers are able to invest in and promote resources that can prevent incidents and accidents in the workplace, such as restroom handrails and anti-slip mats that can prevent spills and falls, even though the HR department is fully aware of the risks that are involved in the particular work environment of the company. In addition to promoting cleanliness and safety, these safety items can also foster a positive work environment.

For example,

Companies like Cargill’s, MAS, Marina, etc, when an employee or employee dependent of the company goes to hospital, if it is a private hospital, the hospital bill will be covered by the company. In there all the processes are done under the human resource management.

Conclusion

The Employer may establish rules and procedures to protect employee safety at work as part of his or her obligation to do so. Employees who are in good health and safety conditions can work efficiently and effectively and accomplish the company's objectives. Productivity and overall organizational efficiency can be affected by safety and health. Organizations can try to improve employee cooperation and the degree to which they are safeguarded in the workplace. It is now the employee's obligation to make sure they conform to these regulations. One has rights and obligations as an employee with regard to their personal wellness, that of their co-workers and indirectly, that of the general public. A safety and health plan's performance are largely dependent on how well-integrated and apparent it is into daily corporate activities. Health and safety awareness will permeate everyone's minds as the implemented plan is integrated into the corporate culture. Businesses, workplaces, and lives all benefit from safety and health. Furthermore, by maintaining proper health and safety management employees will have increased loyalty towards the company thus, making it easier for the organization to reach its goals.
